Requiring practitioners to stay up-to-date on the latest in nutritional medicine, this approach integrates a patient's genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors to personalize treatment plans that lead to success. In short, functional nutrition seeks health through metabolic balance and the proper functioning of the body systems, targeting the root of illness.
This holistic and thorough approach to care requires time, data, education, and detective work. A clinical diagnosis rarely indicates a thorough plan for achieving health. Your dietitian may request that you obtain additional laboratory tests and/or keep notes of your eating and experiences to best inform your care.
